We were delighted to be approached by a client based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk who were interested in building a Garden Room to use as a gym space and store.
Number 17 Ltd were able to provide a full turn key package from screw pile foundations, the steel frame building right through to a fully insulated building. The complete bespoke project took us approximately 1 month to complete and the outcome is fantastic…we hope you agree!
THE TASK
The brief was to create a building that housed a space big enough to use as a home gym, and a separate space for storage. A spacious room filled with natural light allows these clients a beautiful space to work out, whilst being in the comfort of their own garden.
The building sits on an uneven area of ground where a small brick store sat previously, so we decided to use the latest screw pile technology for the foundations to ensure that the building was 100% level. This is our preferred method of foundations as it negates the need for a large concrete pad and can be installed in a matter of hours. This Garden Room is completely bespoke with a total building size of 5.1 x 2.5m. As always we used our light gauge steel, rolled off our very own FRAMECAD machine to construct this build. The software we use is able to take a detailed design drawing and create all the individual pieces of steel needed for erection. The steel frame for this build was erected in just 1 day!
The building was then fully insulated, plastered and decorated on the inside and finished with beautiful grey woodgrain composite cladding on the front. The two sides and rear of the build were finished in grey external wall insulation. The customer chose grey UPVC windows and doors of various sizes for this build. A set of french doors at the front of the building allows the building to open onto the client's beautiful garden. All of our windows and doors meet building regulations specification standards of enhanced security performance. The build was finished with a front canopy and downlights to give off a stylish look.
We worked closely with the customer to ensure that the finish inside the building met all their requirements. All electrical work was completed by specialist tradesmen to ensure it was fully operational as quickly as possible. The client is now able to make the most of the new space to keep fit from the comfort of their own home.
Finally, the building was finished with a EPDM rubber roofing system that comes with a 20 year warranty. Our roofing systems are BBA approved and with their life expectancy standing at an impressive 50 years, this is an incredibly durable and long-lasting product.
